Russell Westbrook inches ever closer to Oscar Robertson with 37th triple-double

Russell Westbrook was the hero in every sense Monday during the Thunder’s 92-91 win over the Mavericks.

Having already secured his 37 triple-double of the season, four shy of Oscar Robertson’s single-season record, Westbrook helped Oklahoma City win by scoring 16 of his 37 points in the fourth quarter, including a dramatic game-winner.

Westbrook also added 13 rebounds and 10 assists. Victor Oladipo Cheap Dog Jerseys scored 15 points with nine rebounds in support.

Do the Knicks really want to put back their development of that young core by two years as they keep spinning their wheels with Anthony?

Anthony has agreed to trades to two places: Houston and Cleveland. The Cavaliers cannot afford Anthony in a trade, and the Rockets and Knicks have to have four teams involved to make a trade happen.

“We’ve been in contact with Carmelo’s representatives. We’ve been obviously in contact with other teams,” Mills said. “Our view is if there’s an opportunity that works for Carmelo and works Cheap DUKe Basketball Jerseys for us, then we’ll look at some kind of trade.

“But we also feel that Carmelo could easily be a part of our team next year, and we have to understand how we’re going to play and what the expectations [are] of how we’re going to play and we’re going to move forward. So it may be with Carmelo or it may be without Carmelo.”

Alternate theory: Maybe, LeBron James was impersonating Bill Cartwright, not Lonzo Ball

LeBron James warned Lavar Ball not to play outside of his position and mention his kids’ names again, even if he’s just discussing their basketball potential, about a week Cheap China NFL Jerseys and a half ago. Then, the boisterous Ball clapped back and let the world know he’s not sweating what King James said. The next thing you know, Thursday night, while warming up to face the Bulls on the road, Lebron Cheap Custom NFL Jerseys throws up a couple “flicted” looking jump shots. Those jumpers could maybe, sort of, possibly be taken as a shot at Ball’s son, future lottery pick and former UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball and his unorthodox shooting form.

“That was my final game for UCLA, and I appreciate all the fans and all the support,” Ball told reporters Friday after scoring 10 points with eight assists in an 86-75 loss to the Wildcats.

Despite noise off the court, Lonzo Ball’s outspoken father, LaVar Ball, isn’t expected to impact his son’s future in the NBA. The 19-year-old is widely projected to be the second player drafted overall.

Which NBA team will have the No. 2 overall pick will be determined with the draft lottery, but currently Ball’s hometown Lakers are in position with the second-worst record in the league. Ball would fit in well with the Lakers’ young, talented core and despite his poor shooting motion, have an instant impact on the league.

Kendrick Lamar’s ‘The Heart Part 4’ has Drake diss in KD-Westbrook reference

Kendrick Lamar teased fans with an Instagram post of the Roman numeral IV Thursday, leading many to believe he was dropping his fourth album. Instead, what we got was a track titled “The Heart Part 4” and within it, lyrics referencing Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook’s feud.

As you probably have heard by now, Durant left Westbrook and the Thunder this past offseason to join the Warriors. Since then, there has been a subtle feud between the two, highlighted by a jawing-session during a game and some Instagram posts of cupcakes.

There’s the obvious reference to the basketball aspect of things, but if you’re into rap then you can also view this as a Drake diss. Kendrick and Drake have been subtly taking shots at one another for years, and this could be the latest case.

“I don’t think anybody’s ever seen that,” Thomas said, via “Continue to call time-outs, continue to foul when we’re up 15. But, I mean, it was obvious what they were trying to do – get him the most points possible. Hats off to him, though. He played a hell of a game.”

Booker added eight rebounds, six assists and three steals, but his efforts weren’t enough to lift the Suns to a win. The rest of the Suns players accounted for 50 points, and the Celtics earned a 130-120 victory. Still, the 22-51 Suns celebrated Booker’s historic night after the game, drawing ire from the Celtics’ Jae Crowder, who took to Instagram to throw shade on the Suns.

After Booker responded with the ol’ “You can’t guard me,” Crowder narrowed his attack to the Suns’ supporting cast in the photo, saying, “I was talking about them dudes New York Jets Cheap Jerseys around New Cheap Jerseys you. But I’ll see you next year.”

Oakland native Damian Lillard upset over Raiders move, makes fun of Mark Davis’ hair

Naturally, mainly Oakland residents were disappointed and upset when the Raiders move to Las Vegas was approved on Monday.

Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard, who hails from the Bay USA Cheap Jerseys Area, was one of those fans, and took to Twitter to deliver a burn to Raiders owner Mark Davis.

The media was upset because another prime-time matchup — Cavs vs. Clippers — was diluted. Even the NBA wasn’t pleased, as the league called Cavs GM David Griffin shortly after the start of the game.

Well, the Big Three were back in action Sunday as they combined to score 101 of the Cavs’ 125 points against the Lakers. When asked afterward about the outrage from the day before, Lue defended his decision.

“I mean, it’s stupid,” Lue said Sunday before the game, via the Akron Beacon Journal. “Kyrie didn’t come back the game before, knee soreness. Kevin just had his first game back, we needed two days in between each game. It’s OK, though, whatever. It’s stupid.”

James defended his coach when he was asked about the whole ordeal after the team’s win Sunday.

“I don’t think the NBA can do anything about it,” James said. “At the end of the day, it Vip Cheap Jerseys sucks at times where certain guys have to rest, but certain guys need rest.

As much as NBA commissioner Adam Silver may dislike it, Lue taking the rest route would not be surprising given the current state of his team. The Cavs still have plenty of issues, but they also have championship experience and James, who has played in the past six NBA Finals series (which still looks ridiculous no matter how many times you read it).

It all comes back to this: Should the Cavs actually care about the one seed? Cleveland is playing for the real No. 1 in the end, the right to hold the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy. And as Nelly told you, that’s all anyone remembers, right?

Fixing the Knicks: Five things New York must do in the post-Phil Jackson era

We can lament, as we do from time to time, just how things got as bad as they have been in New York, where the NBA should be a hotbed. It’s been the hallmark of this century — the Knicks stink, and no one seems to know how to change that.

What this franchise needs is some tough prescriptions. It Cheap Team Jerseys Basketball needs to accept that being bad for a short while is good for the long term, and if there is a franchise that seems poised to prove that, it’s the Knicks’ West Coast counterpart, the Lakers. For decades, things came so easily for the Lakers that it seemed the indignity of a rebuild was beneath them. But as reality set in recently, the Lakers have given in to the necessity of a rebuild, and their future is looking brighter.

Brett Favre would play through the 2010 season, but in 2005 people were already thinking that was the end for him so it fits the “late in his career” bill that Werder described. Additionally Werder mentions that this occurred during Parcells’ tenure in Dallas, meaning this idea would have had to have been discussed prior to 2007 (Favre’s last season in Green Bay).

Additionally, Tony Romo didn’t become the starter in Dallas until mid-way through the 2006 season. 2005 was Drew Bledsoe’s first in Dallas, the Cowboys went 9-7, so it makes sense that after that season Parcells might’ve been willing to part with Romo who he’d protected for what was then already three full seasons.

Could the Cowboys have traded Tony Romo to Green Bay after 2005 then? For Brett Favre? This would have given the Packers both Tony Romo and Aaron Rodgers while Dallas would’ve been left to deal with a Favre that, in all fairness, did find the fountain of youth over the next few seasons (albeit in Minnesota).

Richard saw what was coming.

The exacerbation isn’t hard to find either. Last season Price struck out 24 percent of the hitters he faced while walking 5.3 percent. This year those numbers have both gone in the wrong direction. The strikeouts have dropped to 20.3 percent and the walks have increased to 8.5 percent. So fewer strikeouts and more walks — not good. You might not be surprised to find out that Price is throwing fewer strikes overall. However, as Jeff Sullivan of FanGraphs noted, the drop in number of strikes has mostly come from Price’s secondary pitches, not his fastball.

This leads to an interesting possibility. Price used to be a pitcher who Cheap Soccer Jerseys Kids threw his fastball a lot. In 2010 with Tampa Bay, he threw his fastball 74 percent of the time, and you’ll recall, his fastball now is similar in velocity to what it was then. Since then his fastball usage has gradually dropped season by season, from 70 percent, to 60 percent, down to 54 percent, and it’s Cheap Softball Jerseys For Men sort of bounced around that area. He’s at 55.8 percent this season.

“It was a strong continuation of where they had left off,” he said. “They saw what it takes, and we weren’t very far off from reaching what we wanted to reach — that ultimate goal. We set a process forth that was working and would continue to work if we just trusted in it and kept going at it every day.”

Richard saw what was coming.

“With my level of production, the moves they were making in acquiring top notch end-of-the-bullpen guys, I knew my role was going to be deleted, and it was unfortunate because I had a great time [in Chicago],” Richard said.

But leaving the Cubs was even more complex than that for Richard because he grew up in Lafayette, Indiana watching the Cubs and hoping as a kid for the World Series that would eventually come a few months after he was off the team he rooted for growing up.

That leaves the Pelicans with scant competition

The Mavericks, too, have been interested, but their intention has always been to focus on re-signing Nerlens Noel, the big man they acquired at the trade deadline. There had been talk that the Sixers would attempt to re-acquire Holiday, but the drafting of guard Markelle Fultz indicates they won’t be looking for a starting point guard.

That leaves the Pelicans with scant competition. Holiday will draw interest from the Nuggets, a source said, and Denver is expected to be aggressive on the free-agent market. And, for the Pelicans, it only takes one team to draw Holiday away. But in handicapping Holiday’s next move, the Pelicans have the upper hand.

There are indications that Holiday does come into free agency with some gratitude Cheap Quality NFL Jerseys toward the Pelicans as an organization, stemming from the support he received last year as he was aiding his ailing wife, Lauren, who was pregnant with their first child while coping with a brain tumor that required surgery. Both his wife and child survived the ordeal, and Holiday returned to the team in mid-November.

At the same time, the organization has been unstable throughout Cheap Quality Soccer Jerseys Holiday’s four-year tenure, and that will weigh on his decision.

Star receiver Antonio Brown created a firestorm after last year’s playoff win over the Chiefs by broadcasting the team’s locker-room celebration, including Tomlin’s fiery comments about the Patriots, on Facebook Live. The Steelers reacted with a firm rebuke of Brown’s actions, and then the matter was quietly handled in-house with a fine and, no doubt, a stern warning.

The third member of the best offensive skill position trio in the NFL, Pro Bowl running back Le’Veon Bell, was absent from Pittsburgh’s offseason program this year, due in part to his recovery from groin surgery but also in protest of his receiving the franchise tag with no long-term deal yet consummated.

That may not happen on the trade market — at least not for now.

USA Today reported that George could be swayed to re-sign with a contender next summer, and the Pacers hope that will grease the wheels on George talks in the coming days. Pritchard is trying to sell the idea that he’s no longer trying to peddle a player who is going to be gone in a year, but, rather, is offering up a bone fide star who just might stay put in Cleveland, Boston or anywhere he can win.

But teams considering a move for George still are dealing with a fear of the Lakers. Even as George’s camp backs off his focus on the Lakers and LA, those bidding for George are treating him like an uncertain proposition, unwilling to offer the Pacers full-value packages out of fear that George wants to be LA-bound.

That may not happen on the trade market — at least not for now. Since the draft, the Pacers and Lakers have not been actively negotiating for George. LA still approaches the situation as though George will be available to sign next summer, and the Lakers would be able to take him on without giving Cheap Qmjhl Jerseys up assets. That’s the idea scenario for the Lakers.

But the Lakers still want to know the best offer the Pacers Cheap Professional Jerseys receive. According to league sources, if the Pacers get an acceptable offer from another team, the Lakers will at least be prepared to make a counteroffer and not take the chance that George lands elsewhere, which could lead to him avoiding the Lakers altogether.

Why he’s here: No one will forget his incredible comeback from a devastating injury last season to play in the World Series and help push the Cubs over the finish line. But Schwarber hasn’t been able to carry over that momentum into this season, to the point where his struggles became so pronounced that the Cubs had no choice but to send him to the minors to get straightened out. This definitely wasn’t the season anyone had in mind for Schwarber after watching him hit .412 in the World Series last fall.

Just before tipoff, Lue outlined his determination to speed the game, no matter the conventional wisdom.

“Playing faster,” Lue said, “but taking care of the basketball. But we’ve got to be — we got to play with pace. They’re a good half-court defensive team, we know that, so we can’t Cheap Dri Fit Jerseys get bogged down in the half-court offense. So when we get stops, we get out and run, that’s when we’re at our best.”

Lue is not wrong there. The Cavs have been better when playing with tempo throughout the postseason. Their two worst games heading into the NBA Finals — Game 1 of the Pacers series, in which Indiana had a chance to win on the final possession (a pace of 90.8), and their Game 3 loss to Boston in the conference finals (92.6) — were also the slowest they have had in the playoffs.

During the season, Cleveland was 11-12 in games played with a pace of 96 possessions per 48 minutes or fewer. They were 25-9 when that number topped 99.

But there’s a fool’s gold aspect of playing fast against this Warriors bunch. Lue might be wary of getting Golden State into the halfcourt, but he should be downright petrified about the Warriors in the open floor. Cleveland was able to hang in with the Warriors in the first half Sunday, which gives some credence to Lue’s approach.

Another slam dunk in a first round full of them. Mosley stepped right into a starting job and has since become one of the Ravens’ best defensive players. He recorded at least 110 tackles his first Cheap Embroidered NFL Jerseys two years, and he could’ve reached that again had he not missed two games last season. The Ravens will almost certainly pick up his fifth-year option, and it wouldn’t be surprising if he gets a long-term extension in the near future.

Can Andre Iguodala return to LeBron-stopping form in the NBA Finals?

When it comes to attempting to limit LeBron James, to the extent it can be done, the Warriors have options. If they need bulk, they have one of the best defenders in the game, Draymond Green, a favorite for the Defensive Player of the Year award. If they need length, there is 6-10 Kevin Durant (if you choose to believe he’s just 6-10). If they need speed, they have one of the world’s best two-way players, 6-7 guard Klay Thompson.

For example, watch how LeBron James and Kyrie Irving defend the following possession from the first quarter. Durant pushes the ball following a missed shot from Kyle Korver and Curry, who averaged 1.20 points per possession in transition during the season, beats him up the court and immediately makes himself available on the wing. A simple look in Curry’s direction when Durant crosses half court is enough to make James and Irving jump towards Curry out of fear, and Durant makes them pay with a dunk nobody can stop when he has that much momentum.

The Cavaliers should’ve been able to make the possession more difficult Cheap Braves Jerseys for the Warriors. Better communication would’ve helped them decide which one of them would pick up Curry and which one would pick up Durant. Then again, the Cavaliers were the NBA’s worst team in transition defense in terms of points per possession (1.18) during the regular season, so maybe that play shouldn’t be too surprising.

Even so, Curry’s willingness to make himself a target early in the Cheap College Basketball Jerseys possession without the ball in his hands forces the Cavaliers to account for him sooner than they normally would, and it sets Durant up perfectly for a scoring opportunity.
